Deification, also known as Apotheosis, is the process of creating a resplendent-level anomaly of the deity subclass.
Common perpetrators of Apotheosis attempts are cults, fringe terrorist groups based out of dimensional interstices, unpopular religious sects, and twitter contrarians.
Oftentimes, the process follows that group's prophesy, creating a buffer of time before the Deification is complete, these can range from a series of signs fortelling the one who is to become their god to a series of miracles which the chosen must perform. In cases where there isn't a chosen recepticle for the anomaly, as with an angry mob or people crying out for a martyr, the effect only activatesa once they finally choose who to Deify, causing a sudden explosion of reality-warping energy as the anomaly takes hold all at once, creating a temporary interstice aligned not with a parallel world, but directly with the collective unconscious, creating a Kabbalah state for a short time and potentially erasing any living humanoid living in that area from the fabric of history.
Upon a slow Apotheosis completing, the anomaly will either retreat fully to the spiritual realm and begin enacting changes to the natural order to enforce its will unstoppably, or it will manifest physically in a Demiurge event, in which the entire material universe will be placed into a Fantasia state until the chosen has completed their attempt to reshape the universe in their image. Fortunately, the last time a deity manifested fully was during the Revelations war, in which the New Testament abrahamic God fully materialized and enacted the entire book of revelations before resetting the timeline, creating an Everywhere At The End Of Time style effect in which the events preceeding it were erased from the chain of causality, relegated to myth, and a new timeline was built off of the point which existed before the anomaly could manifest.
There are only two methods of preventing Deification; either kill the chosen host for the anomaly, or kill those fuelling it, this has led to an upturn in illegal mercenary groups known as Godslayers, whom specialize in seeking out either saint candidates or cultist cells. The current monopoly on Godslayers is held by the Vatican.
