There are many anomalies within New Ireland that are well-understood, so much so that they are no longer called Anomalies. However, there are still anomalies that are entirely unexplained. One such anomaly is the mysterious appearance of children with unidentifiable or bizarre genetic signatures. Oftentimes, the mutations present in these children enable them to become powerful wizards, and as such they are treated with great care by the Mage's Association. Geneseed harvested from these children shows little to no impurities, and generally they are theorized to be an attempt to reintroduce the original mage's seed to the gene pool.
Common traits of an anomalous child include blond hair, vividly coloured irises, and an affinity for primitive bladed weapons.
