February 2022 Research Report

Department; Occult Mystery Research, Biological Studies subdivision.

Experiment; RC-2 Φ.

Purpose; Neofauna research report.

The subject's second miracle has taken form; he has ejected the previously-metabolized synthflesh and bones in the form of self-sustaining tumors, and these have begun growing out in the maintenance tunnels as if they were fungi or plants. These flesh pods flourish in low light environments and ooze small pools of a black bilious liquid. It appears as though there are hives where small semi-humanoid creatures are birthed, as they have been seen occasionally emerging from them but never returning to them. The many-eyed creatures, called Luscus Sapiens (Wise-Eyed Men), have no visible mouth or neck, and their eyes cover their torso, additionally, they are seen soaking in the pools of liquid. The current hypothesis is that these squat creatures feed through their skin and that this liquid is their food source.

Samples taken from the flesh shows it is 100% human flesh, though the organs being used are wholly inhuman and it is unknown if the subject knows how these formed. The photophobic effect kicks in if more than 100 lumens are flooding an area. It is suggested that people travelling through infested shortcuts wear hazmat attire and use the low-powered ceiling lights for guidance. The black fluid does not have toxic effects in small doses, but it is not currently understood if prolonged exposure can cause any side effects, so caution must be taken until further human experiments are performed. Workers are advised not to cut any meat from the environment for food usage, as it is technically canibalism and thus can cause legal trouble for the company.

Luscus Sapiens are a decidedly social species, each hive has the same culture and customs and they are known to help both passing humans and other hives in return for a simple hug for each assistant. It is considered bad form to decline this custom, and they will begin pulling small pranks on those who scorn them. It is currently unknown if they are capable of violent behaviour, until we can establish a proper testing hive, it is recommended that you follow the customs of these small tricksters when treading their domain; when in rome, do as romans do and all that. They have yet to evolve pas their photophobic origin, and as such prolonged exposure to light above 100 lumens will cause rapid necrosis, it is theorized they are capable of evolution, and we must keep an eye on them to ensure they do not evolve to be too human-like.The maximum height observed is 14In. tall, they have no toes, and have 4 fingers. There are gills on the side of the body, presumably used to breathe, but also theorized to be used to imbibe the black fluid.

On the subject, we have taken large skin, tissue, and bone samples from him while he was sleeping. Alarmingly, not only did these grow back, but there wasn't even scar tissue, it was as if the new flesh was comprised almost fully of single-cell organisms acting in a cohesive unit rather than being pieces of one multicellular organism. Tests did not show this to be the case, however, the DNA is consistent with The Director's but mixed with that of an individual we do not have records of. This suggests that the rebirthing process he is undergoing is not fully new flesh but instead he is somehow creating flesh that makes him blood-related to The Director as well as an unknown partner. A member of our team has speculated the other person's DNA is The Director's late wife, however, we do not have clearance to exhume the body for testing.

Conclusion;

Currently, these small creatures appear to not be a threat, if anything they can serve as a great help for simple tasks in the maintenance tunnels. If we can make the subject teach them to keep their homes clean, and then migrate them to designated hive zones, we can begin cultivating them to be the perfect pet and assistant species, a contender with dogs for man's best friend.
